Led by the year-round opportunities of running the world's largest Irish festival, we hired a full-time Executive Director and opened our first office in 1992. As the festival continued to grow in popularity during the 1990's, so did the continued demands for additional office and workspace.
In 1998, the organization opened the doors of a year-round facility dedicated to Irish-related activities. The CelticMKE Center (formerly Irish Fest Center) is home base for offices and meetings, and host to a variety of activities and events throughout the year. Our dedicated staff members, along with more than 4,000 volunteers, work year-round to bring concerts, lectures, workshops and Milwaukee Irish Fest to life.
The CelticMKE Center also houses the Ward Irish Music Archives, a collection of sound recordings, sheet music and other Irish music-related items. Named after the late father of the festival's founder, Ed Ward, the archives promote, preserve and celebrate Irish music in all forms.
