Starry Nights Concert Series
Two beloved summer traditions combine as we celebrate our second annual Starry Nights’ collaboration with Milwaukee Irish Fest! Lift your feet, drinks, and spirits as we dance under the stars to the sounds of Limerick Partnership scholarship award winners Eadaoin Ni Mhaicin (harp, concertina) and Olivia Budd (fiddle), as well as Milwaukee’s renowned Irish music duo, Frogwater.
Audiences are welcome to pack their picnic baskets and lawn chairs. Food and beverage vendors will also be available onsite for each concert. Come enjoy this Brookfield summertime tradition!
University of Limerick Partnership:
Eadaoin Ni Mhaicin (harp, concertina) & Olivia Budd (fiddle)
Hailing from Balla in County Mayo, Éadaoin Ni Mhaicin is a multi-instrumentalist with numerous All-Ireland titles to her credit on a range of instruments from fiddle to harp. The talented young musician has a long list of awards to her name having won prestigious competitions such as the International Harp Competition when she represented Ireland at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient which attracts up to 800,000 visitors annually. She has the distinction of being the first and only Irish winner of this very prestigious Award/Competition. Éadaoin tutors at many summer schools throughout Ireland and overseas.
Olivia is a fiddle player from Salt Spring Island, Canada. She has been immersed in Irish traditional music from a young age and has taught as a fiddle instructor across Canada. She has opened for and performed with artists such as Pierre Schryer, Martin Hayes, Buffy Sainte-Marie, and Alasdair Fraser, mostly recently performing at the 2019 Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. Olivia writes and performs music in a variety of traditional styles, drawing from Celtic, Scandinavian, and Canadian influences. Olivia holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Irish Traditional Music Performance at the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick.
Milwaukee's own Frogwater brings a mix of Celtic, American, old-time, bluegrass, Cajun and blues music for their high energy show. The two time Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) award winners deliver to those who look for musical sophistication and to those who simply want feel the power of music
